FAQs

Q: Can I book a Japanese Headspa session if I have extensions, braids or dread locs?

A:  We do not perform headspa sessions on those with extensions that are installed.  We recommend booking a headspa session either before you have them installed, or in between having them removed and moved up.  Braids and dread locs must be removed and combed out, as combing/brushing are part of the headspa service.

Q:  Can I book a headspa session if my hair is colored/chemically processed?

A:  Headspa generally does not affect most colors, however rainbow colors/vivid colors may fade, due to varying water temperatures during the session. We recommend not coloring for two days before or after your session. Perms should be older than a week. If you've had a keratin straightening treatment we don't recommend having a headspa seesion for at least two weeks.  We are not responsible for any loss of color, curl or straightness.

Q: How should I prepare for my session?

A:  Do not wash your hair for a day or two prior to the session.  This allows us to see your scalp in its natural condition and to best assess your needs.  Avoid heavy styling products before your appointment.

Q: What should I wear to my headspa session?

A:  We recommend wearing bottoms that you can comfortably lay in.  You will be provided with a spa robe that will expose your neck and shoulders, covering everything else.  We also recommend wearing shoes that are easy to slip on and off.

Q: Is a blow out and/or style included after my session?

A:  You will receive a rough blow dry so that you do not leave with hair that is dripping, but a blow out and/or style is not included.  You may book a full blowout and/or style at an additional cost when you book your session.  Adding these services at the time of your session may not be a possibility, dependent upon availability.

Q: Do you sell products the products so that I can maintain my scalp and hair at home?

A:  Yes, absolutely!  Feel free to ask what we recommend for you to take home.

Q: Can I book a couples session or a duo session for my friend and I?

A:  Unfortunately, we can only accommodate one guest at a time in our private room.  Multiple appointments would need to be made back-to-back or at different dates/times.

Q: Can I bring my child with me to my session?

A:  We want you to relax and enjoy your headspa session. It is important that the practitioner is able to focus on your needs. We do not allow children to accompany parents into the treatment room or to be left alone in the waiting area.

Q: If something comes up and I need to arrive late to my appointment, is that okay?

A:  We understand that things happen and it can sometimes be difficult to arrive to your appointment on time. We will try our best to accommodate you; however, out of respect for other clients' time, we can not guarantee the full service time if you are late.  We will do what we can in the time remaining when you arrive. Please note, you will still be charged the full price of the service as booked. Last minute/same day cancellations/no shows are all charged full price.
